This was a damn tough read, but also rather satisfying. The amount of research that went into this graphic novel is simply staggering.
The metaphisycal twist was strange but not unexpected from an author like Moore.
The only thing I didn't fully appreciate were the drawings. I understand it's a precise stylistic choice I'm looking at, but when you have an hard time understanding who's who in a novel this complex, then you've got a problem.

This novel has a few good ideas (e.g. the imago thingy), but is unable to build an interesting plot on them. Also, with the exception of the protagonist, characters feel quite monodimensional and I couldn't feel any empathy for them.
Worldbuilding has a few good points, but in the end it didn't really feel like we were talking about a GALACTIC empire. It felt more like a medieval kingdom, ruled by a handful of people.
Moreover, story unfolds WAY too slowly. Plot is quite simple, it needed some faster pacing in my opinion.
I don't think I'll keep reading this saga.

This one was a huge, uninterruped action scene from cover to cover. Not exactly the reason why I'm reading Butcher's saga.

Unexpectedly good. I feared this was the usual money-grab they often do to squeeze a few bucks from fans, but it was not.
It's written in dossier form, so do not expect a novel. It starts a bit slow and it's hard at first to understand where it is going (it begins at the times of the Lewis and Clark expedition!), but hold tight, it's well worth your time.
I loved the skillful blend of real (or pseudo-real) events with fiction, and it's so well done that it's often hard to see where one ends and the other begins.
Needles to say, this is for Twin Peaks fans only, but if you are, it's well worth your time and money.

Butcher's novels are always a pleasure to read. This time what's impressing is how Harry is changing, being a father and having to rearrange his priorities without giving up on his redpinsabilities (wich is probably an impossible task to start with).
I only suspect that this time Butcher raised the stakes a little too high regarding the opponent(s) Harry & c will have to face. I really hope ti be proven wrong.

Great read if you have any kind of interest in space exploration, and probably also if you don't.

Suarez confirms that the Daemon trilogy wasn't a one-time thing. His writing is solid and always well researched.

I can't wait for the next novel in this new saga.

It's official, I've read too much urban fantasy. Every new novel I read it's one big deja vu, from the beginning to the end.
Jacka is a good writer, but every situation and character feels like you've already seen It before.

If I have ti choose an urban fantasy saga to keep reading, that'll be the Dresden files.
