A great book for videogame enthusaists and those who love 80's culture.

A great story regarding a late teen engaging in a video game quest with real-world impact. Set in a dystopian future, the tale gives you a blend of a virtual world learing to positive and meaningful real-life changes.
The story is told with enthusiasm and gives you a great insight into a late teen learning there is more to life than a virtual world. It also teaches you persistance, may lead to mindblowing results.
An enjoyable and quick read. Nostalgia is bound together by a fairly predictable plot line. I wanted to go back and create a playlist of all the music mentioned, but I borrowed the book from a co-worker and needed to return it.
To be honest it's been a while since I read the book so don't expect a full in depht review. Sorry.
I liked it, quite a lot indeed. I also enjoy playing video games and 90% of the action occours on a video game. I think that, as always, the book is quite superior compared to the movie.
In conclussion: I recomend it if you like cifi stuff.

Quattrocento pagine volate via e una gran voglia di prendere la Switch e immergermi in Animal Crossing, una simulazione di vita non all’altezza di OASIS, ma molto più kawaii (e poi ma chi riesce ad appassionarsi a questa crisi di governo che, malgrado tutte le spiegazioni e ricostruzioni dei giornali, nessunǝ ha davvero capito?).
Io Wade lo capisco proprio: la sua vita reale è uno schifo, da sempre. Abita un mondo in disfacimento e non ha alcun potere per cambiare le cose, ma ha a disposizione un mondo digitale in cui – potenzialmente – ha infinite possibilità. Che importa conoscere l’aspetto fisico o anche il genere di una persona quando si condivide una passione e una parte di vita?
Penso sia questo l’elemento che ci avvicina così tanto al mondo di Ready Player One: almeno per quanto mi riguarda, non ho vissuto in prima persona la cultura videoludica, cinematografica e musicale negli anni Ottanta e non sono stata quindi in grado di cogliere ogni citazione, ma l’idea che il videogioco e la realtà virtuale non siano solo pura illusione, ma abbiano dei legami con la realtà materiale e possano anche influenzarla mi sembra decisamente familiare.
In barba a chi pensa ancora che i videogiochi siano strumenti atti a rincoglionire la gente (un’idea che pare uscita da uno spin-off della teoria del complotto del piano Kalergi), i vantaggi e i pericoli di OASIS sono ormai pane quotidiano e questo mondo cyberpunk parla molto del nostro. È vero che un videogioco come OASIS è ancora fantascienza, ma siamo comunque qui a barcamenarci su come fare a vivere al meglio con un piede nella realtà e uno nel cyberspazio.
Ready Player One con un’adrenalinica caccia al tesoro videoludica contro una potentissima multinazionale cattiva riesce a parlare di questa (relativamente) nuova cosa che è il cyberspazio, che ancora non sappiamo bene maneggiare, figuriamoci se parliamo addirittura di realtà virtuale (si potrebbe obiettare che anche la realtà materiale ci dà ancora del filo da torcere, ma facciamo finta di nulla).

Devo dire che è stata una buona lettura. Sicuramente tiene viva l'attenzione del lettore, procede spedito e senza sviluppi non utili ai fini della trama.
È forse questo, però, che manca. Ogni azione del protagonista, ogni oggetto che ha, ogni amico che trova funziona un po' come la pistola di Cechov: svolgerà la sua funzione entro il termine del romanzo.
A questa trama dagli sviluppi controllati si affianca uno stile piuttosto snello, veramente ben congeniato; i complimenti anche a chi ha tradotto.
Il motivo per cui mi fermo a tre stelle è che mi è mancato qualche fronzolo puramente descrittivo e qualche minuzia nella narrazione di alcune fasi del romanzo che avrei gradito descritte nel dettaglio.
