The Body

Stand By Me was one of my favorite movies growing up. This novella is just as brilliant and offers even more context to what happens to the boys after their standoff with Ace. There's more introspection, an added story of Gordie's (one he published as an adult), and precious moments where King captures what it's like to be twelve and straddling the line between adolescence and young adulthood. The film isn't 100% faithful but never deviates too far from the source material. Whether you read the novella or watch the film, you're in for a treat.

Secondo me, uno dei maggiori pregi di Stephen King è il riuscire a scrivere "con la mente di un ragazzino" in maniera ineccepibile. Tutti i suoi libri che ho amato (IT su tutti), infatti, hanno come protagonisti dei dodicenni o giù di lì. Da troppi anni avevo rimandato la lettura di questa novella da cui è tratto il famosissimo film "Stand by Me", e non mi ha deluso per niente. La prima metà mi è piaciuta tantissimo, poi forse il ritmo scema un po'; tuttavia è stato un piacere leggerlo e anche stavolta mi è venuta voglia di leggere un altro suo libro, magari tra qualche mese. Ci casco sempre come un pollo.

"Non ho mai più avuto amici, in seguito, come quelli che avevo a dodici anni. Gesù, e voi?"
