This was such a great read. It reminded me of when King and Straub worked together with a huge leap into fantasy, told almost as a fairytale for adults.

Hidden Pictures tells the story of a young adult girl, Mallory, recently rehabilitated, who becomes a live-in babysitter to young Teddy, whose pictures begin to tell a story, and Mallory finds herself struggling to solve their purpose. I absolutely loved this book and found it hard to put down from the get-go.

As a fan of Shirley Jackson, I'd have to say that Ellen Datlow curated a most excellent collection of intriguing stories from an array of contemporary authors.

I was sad to have finished the last story, but now I know whom to go to for more.

I'd read this gem when it came out in paperback, and I was 12 years old. I loved it so much, I did an except of the interview as a skit in camp that summer.

I picked this book from the local store shortly after finishing Sundial, because I really enjoyed Catriona Ward's writing.

This was another thrilling page-turner about a young girl's disappearance in rural Washington state and the people who are involved in solving the mystery.

Catriona Ward is a force of nature behind the written word. She's fast becoming one of my favorite authors.

This is probably one of the best books I've read this year, for personal reasons. It has outdoor adventure, horror, humor, and gay characters who aren't coming out or finding their first love, they're just gay and have lives. Thank you, Thomas Olde Heuvelt!

This was the first paperback adult fiction I'd ever read at age 12, I think. It was a fun work of adventure fiction that was a great transition from Jules Verne to contemporary fiction.

This book was one of a handful that helped me graduate from children's books. It's was kind of a young adult or tween fiction of its time, and it was easily one of the favorite books of my childhood.

This was the first contemporary horror book I'd ever read. I can still remember reading in during the day in my bedroom. I didn't even pay attention to my mom walking up the stairs.

I liked the characters in The Other People, but in my view the story's unreal aspects sometimes detracted from the main plot with Gabe tracking down his daughter.
I did enjoy it enough to want to check out Tudor's other books.

Definitely along the vein of creepy space sci-fi, but with more human elements of horror. The suspense held, even with the sci-fi background.
