It could have been more than 4 if the ending wasn't such an anticlimax leaving so much still to be worked out. It feels like pullman has not yet made up his mind completely on what he's going to say with the book theme or maybe he still wants to write about our lyra and then others so it's just a goodbye... who knows... maybe we have to follow the Dust

It's not only about the setting. It's not about the characters and definitely not about the plot. It's that mcilvanney is full of quotes about life and people. I think i should read them again and mark them down for future reference. And cheers to all we leave behind as we move forward to the end.
