In a shop sim, you're accumulating money over time and every decision is measured against whether it keeps that number growing. In slope 2, distance is that number. It only ever goes up while you're alive, and it resets to zero when you fail. There's no bank, no savings, no partial credit. That's a harsher economy than most management games, but it makes every choice legible. Speed is your growth curve. A growing business gets harder to manage, not easier — more stock, more staff, more things that can go wrong. Slope 2 does the same thing with acceleration. The longer you survive, the faster everything comes at you, and the strategy that carried you through the first thirty seconds stops working at ninety. You have to keep upgrading your own reactions to match your own success. Anyone who has watched a small shop get overwhelmed by its own popularity will recognise the feeling. Lane choice is inventory choice. When the track splits, you're picking a route with incomplete information. One side looks wider now but might narrow. One side has an obstacle you can see and probably a clear stretch behind it. This is the same shape of decision as choosing what to stock: you're betting on the next stretch of time using partial evidence, and you have to commit before you know. And failure is total, which teaches faster. No save scumming, no undo. You get the lesson immediately and you get to apply it immediately, because a new run starts in one keypress. How to actually get better Right, practical section. These are the things that moved my scores the most. Steer in taps, not holds. The single biggest mistake new players make is holding a direction key. The ball keeps building lateral momentum the whole time you hold, and by the time you notice you've overcorrected, you're already off the edge. Tap the key, watch the drift, tap again. Hugging an edge is the equivalent of running your business with no buffer: fine until the first surprise. Pick the route with more visible information. When the track forks, don't automatically take the one that looks safest right now. Take the one where you can see further. Knowing what's coming is worth more than a clear ten metres. Accept that the first ten seconds are free. The early slope is wide and slow. Don't play cautiously there — use it to warm up your timing and get your eyes into the right focus. The run doesn't really begin until the speed picks up. Play in short sittings. This game punishes tired reflexes brutally. Ten focused minutes will beat an hour of grinding, and my personal bests have almost always come in the first five minutes of a session, not the fortieth. Learn one failure at a time. After a death, ask what specifically ended it — overcorrection, blind fork, missed red block. Fix that one thing on the next run. Trying to fix everything at once just makes you tense, and tense play in slope 2 means jerky steering, which means edges. A note on expectations Your score will plateau. Everyone's does. You'll sit around a number for a while, feel like you're getting worse, then jump significantly in a single session. That's normal, and it's another thing the game shares with running anything: progress is lumpy, and the flat stretches are where the actual learning happens even though it doesn't feel like it. Also — don't chase leaderboards too hard. The game is at its best when you're half in a trance, reacting rather than calculating. Scoreboard pressure pulls you out of that.
