Dei quattro racconti che costituiscono questa raccolta, quello eponimo è sicuramente il migliore. Posso capire che King citi spesso Shirley Jackson come una delle sue fonti primarie, questo racconto sembra scritto da lui, per l'ambientazione, il crescendo, anche il sottotesto sociale. Il secondo racconto, che racconta di una presunta sposa, è amaro ed espone il modo più evidente il tema femminista che è presente in altre opere dell'autrice. Gli altri due sono proprio trascurabili.
